Another damn ferris wheel – this time in Poland!
Here we are in Kraków, which is probably the best-kept bigger city in Poland. – Which, again, is probably the most overlooked country I've ever been to.
Prices have gone haywire since I was here the first buncha times. But I still gotta give a shout-out to the Polish beer, which is still as affordable as it's tasty. At least most of the minor brands. And apart from all those gray buildings, you'll also find both neat architecture and pretty nature here.
Plus, as you all should damn well know, their metal scene is pretty bitchin'. Indeed, I was here for this year's most supreme triple combo bill of Uriah Heep, Saxon, and Judas Priest. (The organization at Krakow's Tauron Arena was horrible, so I missed Heep. Fuck that place.)
If you ever go to Kraków, you should totally visit Garage Pub, which is a biker place, but they play hella metal, and they have regular live shows. (The one we saw kinda sucked, but every place has those.)
Apart from that, Classic Rock Club is a bit more expensive, but it lives up to its name in terms of music. It has a pretty wicked assortment of both beers and spirits; it's less trashy, and it's got an indoor sealed-off smoking area.
Finally, the coolest place in my humble opinion is Jazz Rock Café. Don't get fooled by the name; the DJs that night were really generous on the Type O Negative and Metallica. And the interior is wicked. I'll post pics if I ever get around to doing an article. But as always, don't hold your breath for it, and don't bet anything on it, ever.
